Letter stating collection to be removed in 90 days or less

I  recently recieved a letter in the mail from a collection agency stating they were going to remove a negative account from my credit reports after i initially sent them 3 debt validation letters. They also told me it can take the credit bureaus up to 90 days to remove is this true or do they have the ability to remove it right away, and if they can what is their real time period they have to remove it?
