Just for the record, I just call Equifax at 800-846-5279 and got through right away. I talked with a very nice lady who helped me. I found this number and two others by using Google.
Try these too (I didn’t try them since the first one worked)
Equifax can’t keep anything straight … and doesn’t seem to try very hard. For the second time, the company has been penalized by the Federal Trade Commission for not responding to consumer inquiries. That will come as no news to the hundreds who’ve written to us, including those below:

As of July 2007, Equifax form letters include a toll-free number, (888) 876-5796, that is no longer in service. Below this defunct phone number, the Equifax form letter informs customers that they “must call within 60 days” if they wish to dispute any information contained within the letter.

Please also keep in mind that Equifax often changes their phone numbers. An actual credit report from the agency you are trying to reach is the best resource, as dispute telephone numbers are often listed on the report.
