What is the best way to get credit  after a bankruptcy. I want my good credit score back after bankruptcy?

  •  I make sure all my accounts that were included in my bankruptcy are listed on my report as "included in bankruptcy" and "zero balance". I submit the free credit dispute form, include a copy of my  credit report and court papers circling accounts which should read included in bankruptcy.

  •  During my bankruptcy I always address the credit report issue with my bankruptcy lawyer or trustee and get them to make sure the credit report issue is addressed in some way as far as reporting.

  •  I try to keep some open credit lines after chapter 13 bankruptcies. I keep these up to date no matter what. I beg and borrow to pay these bills before 30 days elapse.

  •  I get or keep at least 3 reported and open current paid on time credit cards or loans that have been reported at least 12 months.

What is the best bankruptcy to file if I want to get my credit going as soon as possible and why

  • Chapter 7 bankruptcy is the best to file if I want to get on with my  life as fast as possible. I usually have give up all my assets to pay off as many of my debts as possible.

  • After a chapter 7 bankruptcy I can not file bankruptcy again for several  years and the bankruptcy erases all debt immediately. I am discharged the same day to start over.

  • A Chapter 13 re certifies some debts like homes and I make payments to the courts to pay off debts. When I pay off my court appointed payments I will receive discharge papers. I cannot get new credit or loans while I am in active chapter 13 bankruptcy.

  • Any chapter 13 payments are recorded by the court only.

  • Must I give up my credit cards if I file bankruptcy? Yes

Will my credit improve after a bankruptcy drops off?

My credit score will always improve when bad past bad credit drops off. If I have new good credit, that reports to a bureau,
and the bankruptcy is 7 years old, then I would say it will help my score about 10-50 points.
If the bankruptcy is an error and disputed off my report, my score will jump 100+ points.

The most important thing to do after a bankruptcy is discharged IS, to establish new good credit right now.

Question?
My Credit is so bad; I don’t think I can get a slice of pizza on credit. I have a home and car that I am making every effort to pay on time, but this “economic crunch” that we’re all going through is killing me!

I want to just get back on the straight and narrow, but don’t know if its best for me to just file bankruptcy or try to deal with the everyday runaround.

1. If I file bankruptcy, how will that affect my current charge offs on my credit report?
2. If I file, how will that affect my home and car?
3. I am married and both I and wife are on the loan for the house, but have 2 separate loans. How will filing affect her, will she have to file along with me?
4. Can IRS levies be claimed with bankruptcy
--------------------
bk will erase debts

you will lose both if you file 7
you might keep both if you file13

on a home it will hurt both of you

IRS never gets claimed in bk's

 Question # 1
I filed for BK 10/06 my case was discharged 1/07 I pulled my credit report and Country wide home loans is still showing a balance as is Mercedes also all my collection accounts are still showing unpaid. If I dispute the items with the credit bureau will it help my score?

Thanks for any advice you may be able to give me.

If should if you can provide documentation the accounts were zeroed out.
I would consider calling each account be fore I dispute.
In the end you are entitled to have your report reflect each account that was included in the bankruptcy.

Question #2
Do you think a MasterCard or Visa credit card would help in the process of rebuilding credit after Chapter 7 bankruptcy if I were an authorized user on these cards?

I tried in good faith to return merchandise that was bought this year from Dell, after I lost my job but they wouldn't take it back and it's in new condition.  Can the appointed Trustee still accuse me of fraud when filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy?

Also I was blacklisted with Chexsystems for a ridiculous amount of overdrafts and some weren't my fault, but I didn't dispute in a timely manner so I'm stuck with them, because they went to an outside collection agency.  Can my mom open a savings account in her name so I can use, I already have a checking account through my school?

I know everyone looks at bankruptcy as a dirty thing, but I wouldn't be filing if it weren't absolutely my last option; the phone is ringing off the hook with collection agencies threatening me and creditors demanding payment; right now my credit score is somewhere in the 400 range, which would take years to .  When I look at it in that perspective bankruptcy is not a bad option for me.
---------------------------------

I think the authorized user doesn't work anymore
Returning merchandise will not help
chapter 7 needs to be looked at by an unbiased person.
you need to be in a certain amount of debt with a less than reasonable chance of repaying
